Cities in Brazil

In 2008, the GTZ funded Local Renewables Model Communities Network project was expanded to include Brazil.  Today, the Brazilian cities network is composed of two Model Communities, Betim and Porto Alegre, and a number of observer cities.

Project Components

City work

The following cities are committed to become 'Model Communities':

Betim, Minas Gerais, Brazil

Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil

The cities are using a multi-pronged approach towards becoming a 'Model Community'. They concurrently actively seek political support for the initiative, engage their citizens in awareness activities and consult  stakeholders groups with interest in Local Renewables.
