What is ICLEI?
ICLEI, is a network of 900+ local governments for sustainability, many of whom are world leaders on Local Renewables. ICLEI thus builds a bridge between expert local governments (model communities) and local governments wanting to become model communities.
ICLEI offices collaborating on Local Renewables
The Local Renewables Initiative is the collaborative effort of ICLEI offices spanning three continents and a team of eleven staff members. Below is the respective role of each office.
ICLEI - International Training Center located in Freiburg (Germany) oversees the project management and reports to the funders.
Cities for Climate Protection (CCP) located in Berkeley (USA), International Coordination is mainly responsible for the outreach element of the project and contributes to its strategic development.
ICLEI - South Asia Secretariat located in Delhi (India) is in charge of the development and the implementation of the 'Local Renewables Model Communities Network Project' in India.
ICLEI - European Secretariat located in Freiburg (Germany) is responsible for the coordination of the work with European local governments participating in the network and those who wish to join.
ICLEI - Latin America and the Caribbean located in São Paulo (Brazil) is responsible for the development and the implementation of the Elo-Brazil project, a sister project to Indian one.
